Synopsis

Remy spruces up the backyard before Vee's Woodchuck Woodies Picnic.

Plot

Vampirina wakes up knowing that she's hosting the Woodchuck Woodsies annual picnic today and wants to make things perfect. Chef Remy Bones shows up with a book regarding how to plan a perfect picnic. The picnic needs decorations, and Oxana and Boris are tasked to de-spook the blankets and make sure the garden looks special. For games, Demi will set up the bat-minton court. Gregoria will keep the Woodsies moving to the music while Bones will create a menu for the picnic. Bones knows he can do more than just food.

Oxana and Boris then release the decorations for the picnic while Demi plays bat-minton. Vampirina then catches up to Bones, who is creating a picnic menu which he had to de-spook for her friends. Bones mentions what it contains as Vampirina notices what's happening to the decorations. Since Oxana and Boris don't have time to spruce up the garden, Bones does it himself. Vampirina compliments it, as does Edna, Poppy, and Bridget. Edna will host the Woodsie parents and tasks Oxana and Boris to send the artiste to work his magic on her yard. Bones wants to do gardening on Edna's yard, as no one has complimented him on anything he did outside of the kitchen before. He decides to do Edna's hedges and be back quickly while Demi takes over the cooking duties.

Bones, with a new look, spruces up Edna's garden and she tells him the whole town will benefit from his talent. Meanwhile, Demi is struggling with the food for the picnic. Bones mentions how his sprucing is praised. Bridget wonders if the menu for the picnic will be finished in time when Demi reveals to have made a mess while cooking. Vampirina concludes that they need Bones' cooking skills when he returns, looking for his salad tongs. Bones mentions that they need to use his picnic recipes step-by-step, and one important step that can't be missed is that the tentacle tea cakes have to be taken out of the oven when the timer goes off, so they're fluffy. Bones then leaves to resume his gardening and decides to say goodbye to his chef life.

Vampirina knows Bones should not give up on cooking. With the food flying out of control, the Hauntleys try to catch them with no luck. Meanwhile, the timer goes off, and the tea cakes grow out of control. Oxana and Boris will keep the dough away from the picnic while Vampirina and Demi find Bones. He spruced a tree to make it look like Demi and is told by Vampirina that he is a great chef. Bones mentions that he likes being recognized for something other than his food, and he can't be a chef if he wants to make topiaries. Vampirina tells Bones that he does not have to give up one talent to do another; she likes being a Woodchuck Woodsie and a Ghoul Girl at the same time. Bones realizes that cooking is one of the most wonderful things in the world.

After Vampirina motivates him and provides an example of things getting batty in the kitchen now, Bones apologizes for being swept away with his new hobby when he promised to make the picnic perfect. They then head to the kitchen, and Bones makes it back to normal and prepares everything for the picnic as the Woodsies arrive. The Hauntleys are happy to have Bones back, and later, Edna declares it the best Woodsie picnic ever held. Vampirina thanks Bones for making the picnic perfect and Bones thanks Vampirina for showing him he didn't have to give up one passion for another. He found a way to combine them, and reveals to have had his cake and eat it too.
