Synopsis

Nanpire and Grandpop come to visit Vee and her family in Pennsylvania and learn about some human holiday traditions.

Plot

On a snowy day, Poppy enters the Scare B&B and asks Vampirina what the Blood Moon Festival is all about. The invitation states that Poppy is invited to the Blood Moon Festival Dinner at the Hauntleys'. Vampirina, Boris, and Oxana state that once a year, on the night of the Blood Moon, vampire have a giant, monstrous feast. Demi and Gregoria state that vampires invite family to celebrate the previous scare of the year and shriek in the new one. Vampirina states that that's her favorite night as it's all about family coming together to share a great meal.

Since the Hauntleys are far from Transylvania, it's hard for other family makers to make it, but after everything the Hauntleys went through, Poppy, Edgar, and Edna feel like family, and they will be okay with the magic vampire food. Oxana states that the menu will be strictly human since the Hauntleys are here with Vampirina's family this year. Nanpire and Grandpop then arrive, and are greeted by the Hauntleys. Vampirina introduces them to Poppy and Grandpop is surprised about vampires and humans being friends.

Nanpire and Grandpop wonder where the human food is, and wonder how the Blood Moon celebration can be held without the traditional dishes. They then mention what a feast should have to be a success. Vampirina suggests some human platters and turkey, and Grandpop states that he never had a festival like that in 689 years. Boris then takes him and Nanpire to the kitchen after mentioning how great of a cook Chef Remy Bones is. Nanpire and Grandpop taste the soup, which is a little bit bland, so they use a smidgen of Monstro powder; last year, they used a lot of it and their appetizer hopped away. Boris questions the powder and Nanpire and Grandpop apologize and decide to leave everything alone. They decide to try the Hauntleys' human food.

Bones then adds salt to all of the food, and as a result, they come to life. Just then, Edgar and Edna arrive for the festival. Boris introduces them to Nanpire and Grandpop. They then head to the table for the feast. Vampirina mentions the traditions: the scream bowl which gets passed around and screamed into for good luck and sharing nightmares for the upcoming year. As Boris goes to get his nightmare catcher from the attic with Oxana helping, Nanpire and Grandpop state that they live in a retirement castle. Demi tells Vampirina about a problem in the kitchen: the lively food due to too much Monstro powder. Bones states that he may have mistaken the bottle for the salt. Gregoria and Demi will help Bones get the dinner under control while Vampirina serves the unmonsterfied rolls.

She tells everyone about the mishap in the kitchen, and Edna tells her that the Peeplesons have plenty of food at their house. Although Poppy warns everyone about a turkey, Edna decides to get a few things with Edgar when Vampirina decides to hold down the fort with Poppy helping. Oxana and Boris see the problem and Vampirina wonders what needs to be done, as she wanted everyone to celebrate together like one big family. Grandpop states that everyone will have the Blood Moon Festival, vampires and humans. Nanpire searches for her spell book in her purse while everyone tries to stop the food.

When Edgar and Edna return, Edgar decides to have part of the food he got. Nanpire finally gets the spell book and casts the spell to put the food back to its normal place just as Edgar and Edna enter the kitchen. Vampirina states that there wasn't too much trouble, and the Blood Moon Festival begins with everyone enjoying the feast. Vampirina tells Grandpop that there's always room for new traditions when Edna screams into the scream bowl due to how great the meal is. Grandpop states that there's always next year's Blood Moon and hopes the Hauntleys join him and the Peeplesons again, as the more the scarier. Poppy states that after a little while, everyone became a family. Vampirina and Poppy wish each other a happy Blood Moon Festival.
