Synopsis

Family Heritage Day is coming up at school and Vee is excited to make a family tree.

Plot

Vampirina is preparing a family tree, with one of the pictures being Nanpire and Grandpop at their wedding. Demi remembers that day. Mr. Gore states that the class should show pictures of their whole family. For Vampirina's family project, she needs to go back even further. Vampirina states that she needs to go way back, as that is what making a family tree is all about; she gets to learn about the family who came before her, although no one in the tree is older than Gregoria. Demi and Gregoria vow to help Vampirina when Demi accidentally tips over balls.

Vampirina then tells Boris that she may need a little help. She then heads downstairs for a surprise: Nanpire arrives, having overheard everything about the family tree assignment for school. Vampirina has an idea for her tree, and makes it so that it looks spooky, just like the Hauntleys. Nanpire likes it, and puts a pot on the table. Vampirina plants a seed on it and Demi waters it so that it grows. Then, Vampirina adds the family members. She likes it so far, and as for the other branches, Nanpire mentions Vampirina's other family members and how they make a frightful family tree.

The next day, Vampirina tells her family that they need to stay still around humans when Poppy and Edgar arrive. Vampirina takes them to the family tree, and they really like it. Edgar is curious when he sees Vampirina's cousin Goopy green. Vampirina states he eats a lot of green veggies. She then introduces him to Grandpa Wolfgang. Edgar states he's never seen a family tree like that before. Vampirina then wraps up the tour of the tree.

While Edgar takes pictures, Vampirina tells Poppy that she can't make a new tree now, although some of the portraits do not stay still. Poppy tells Vampirina that everything will be okay when Vampirina hides Goopy hiding. Demi tries to motivate Vampirina, but she is still nervous about kids noticing Goopy. She decides to leave the tree behind so that no one sees them.

At school, Vampirina brings the tree in, which is missing some members. Poppy and Bridget then show their family trees, and they notice Vampirina's tree missing some family members. Vampirina tells them what happened. It is time for the class to show their family trees. Mr. Gore then brings in the families, since they're celebrating their families. Vampirina doesn't want Nanpire to notice the missing family members, and tells Demi to get them to school.

Demi and Gregoria then try to gather the family members when it's almost Vampirina's turn. She wonders what will happen if she goes without her whole family tree. Demi then arrives with the remaining family members, who are mad they got left behind. It is Vampirina's turn after Bridget's, but Nanpire decides to have a moment with her while Poppy and Edgar show their family tree. Vampirina tells Nanpire everything that happened, and Nanpire states that their family is definitely different, and all families are in their own way, human or monster. Vampirina needs to know that all of family is what makes her herself. Vampirina apologizes, and as for the empty frames, she just has to tell their story just like Nanpire told her.

Vampirina then tells everyone about her entire family and what they like to do. So far, the class likes it, and Goopy then appears, completing the tree that makes Vampirina herself. Edgar states that Vampirina's family looks different, but so is everybody's. With class over, the Hauntleys are proud of Vampirina for her presentation. Although they are different, that's fine. Vampirina states that she and everyone love the Hauntleys.
