"Vee Takes The Court" is the 2nd Segment of the 31st Episode of the 2nd Season of Disney Junior's "Vampirina". It's premiered on March 15th, 2019, alongside with the 1st Segment "The Birthday Broom".[1]

Synopsis

Vee volunteers to sub in on Poppy's basketball team to help win the final game.[2]

Plot

Vampirina is brushing her teeth when she hears thudding. Demi and Gregoria think it's a troll. Vampirina then sees Poppy making the noise, preparing for the upcoming basketball game at school. Poppy tells Vampirina that she is trying to get in as much practice as she can, as her team has lost every game this season, and their final game is in two days, which is the team's last chance for a win, if they have enough players to play the game. This is because Max twisted his ankle last game, and if there is no replacement, Poppy's team will be unable to play. Vampirina decides to fill in, although she doesn't know the rules of human basketball, as she is great at running fast and jumping high. Although it will be unfair to the other team if she used her monster powers, Vampirina decides to be the fill-in player.

The next morning, Poppy teaches Vampirina everything she needs to know about human basketball. The first step is dribbling. Vampirina then uses her speed for dribbling, and when she doesn't, Bridget steals the ball. As for the chest pass, Poppy and Bridget are mastering it, as well as Vampirina and Chef Remy Bones. As long as Vampirina is having fun, that's what counts. Poppy then states what she loves most about the game: shooting. She also states that the point of basketball is not about the glory, the cheers, or acclaim, it's about the joy of playing and having fun. For her grand finale, Poppy shows her special shot, the Poppy Pop-up. Everyone is delighted, and Poppy suggests Vampirina do that shot. Vampirina states she could use a little practice on everything when Edna calls Poppy for dinner. Although Poppy tells her she'll be great, Vampirina is unsure about getting Poppy's team her first win.

The next day, Vampirina wakes up and hopes she plays okay. She then heads downstairs where she is motivated by the Hauntleys about how well she will do. Poppy then gives Vampirina her jersey which has a 13, her lucky number. Vampirina thanks everyone, and states she is ready when she gets the batties. Boris motivates her, and Vampirina tells him that she can't use her monster speed. Vampirina then decides to play basketball the normal way, although she is nervous.

At school, it is Poppy's team's last game of the season. They will give it their best and have fun. The game then begins. So far, the other team is off to a good start. Poppy tells Bridget to stay focused and keep doing her best. However, the other team is up 18—2 at the end of the first half. Mr. Gore motivates Poppy's team for the second half. Vampirina then finds Demi hiding in a bag, and she tells him about the situation. Although Vampirina can't use her monster powers, she decides to do a little zoom. Eventually, Poppy's team scores more points, bringing the store to 18—6. After a few more shots, Poppy states that her team is doing a little too great and notices Vampirina using her powers, which doesn't make it a fair match. How the team wins is more important.

Mr. Gore is soon proud of Poppy's team, and Poppy wants everyone to remember that no matter what the final score is, they should feel proud of how hard they're trying. Vampirina states that there's something even more important than winning: having fun. With two minutes left in the season, Poppy tells Vampirina that everyone makes mistakes, and is already proud she is on her team. The game continues, and the score is soon 24—22. After Poppy misses a shot, Vampirina calls for a timeout. She decides for a three-point shot to win the game, and she has a plan. Vampirina then tells Poppy to do the Poppy Pop-up, although she's never done that in a game before. With the time counting down, Poppy does it and she wins the match for her team, with the final score being 25—24. Vampirina and Poppy agree that the purpose of a game is to have fun and have the best teammates and friends in the world.
